Diesel D6 and D2 are two main types of gasoil with variety of usage including industrial aims.
Diesel is produced from sources, one of the most common of which is oil. Other sources include biomass, animal feed, biogas, natural gas, and coal combustion.The main measure of diesel fuel quality is cetane number. The cetane number is actually a measure of delay in the ignition of diesel fuel. The higher the cetane number, the faster and easier the combustion of the fuel when spraying in compressed air. The European standard of diesel fuel (EN 590) has a minimum cetane number of 51. Diesel fuel is more efficient than gasoline because it contains 10% more energy per gallon than gasoline. However, there are more limited types of diesel fuel, which include: standard diesel fuel (sometimes called diesel oil), which has two main grades: diesel #1 (or 1-D) and diesel #2 (or 2-D). The higher the cetane number, the more volatile the fuel. Most diesel vehicles use 40 to 55 grade fuel
Diesel D6
Diesel D6, which is known as Residual Fuel Oil, has a high viscosity. This hydrocarbon, which is used as a fuel, needs to be preheated at a temperature between 100 and 125 degrees Celsius before consumption. D6 diesel is mostly used for generators and large engines such as ship engines.
Currently, recent changes in fuel quality regulation to remove sulfur require further refining of D6, resulting in higher cost. Despite this recent change, D6 is less popular due to its high viscosity, as well as the need to preheat before use, and because it contains large amounts of pollutants such as sulfur, and since it requires preheating, it is used in small ships, boats, or automobiles.
Diesel D2
In fact, D2 is a refinery modification for diesel. This product is after secondary distillation in crude oil refineries and can be consumed without adding the common additives of today. Because gasoline cars first consume D2 as fuel before starting. The main difference between diesel and D2 is the amount of sulfur in it, which according to IDSO and GHOST standards should be below 5000ppm
